The team at YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre has been hard at work this fall creating new programming for students in YYC. Since students could not come to YouthLink, we are bringing YouthLink to students! Our new virtual program options provide resources for teachers that links to the Evidence and Investigation unit of the grade 6 curriculum. Students will be able to step into the shoes of a real Calgary Police officer, while still learning important crime prevention information from our Safe for Life zones. As part of YouthLink Calgary’s solution to the COVID-19 pandemic, our resources are completely free to teachers.
Great prizes are available! Any class that participates will be entered into a draw with a visit from a CPS Specialty Unit!
At our core, is our strong commitment to changing lives through crime prevention education.
Each year, our YouthLink Calgary School Programs educates over 60% of Calgary’s grade six students, empowering them to make safe decisions when faced with crime-related pressures and challenges.
By providing the young people of Calgary with the information they need, when it matters most, we’re helping to keep our community’s children safe for life.
A crime has been committed in our city.
Your class is invited to lead the investigation.
Are you and your students up for the task?
Our free Virtual FSI program will take your class through a full police investigation. The entire program takes place within you classroom, but still gives students the opportunity to access authentic police information that you would have in the centre, and even exposure to CPS officers from various specialty units that we have never offered before. We’ll send you a package complete with lesson plans that connect to the Grade 6 Evidence and Investigation curriculum, videos, and step-by-step instructions to make your job easy. The activities allow students to hone their skills in observation, analysis, teamwork, inferencing and crime solving. On top of all that, it’s just a fun experience for you and your class.
