Frequently Asked Questions
What’s new at YouthLink Summer Camps this year?
This year we are sticking with one police-focused theme for each week where campers will work together throughout the week to solve a crime! We’re also keeping our extended drop-off (8:30 AM – 9:00 AM) and pick-up (4:00 PM – 4:15 PM) hours, with camp activities running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some favourite activities from previous years might make a return, and while we love having Calgary Police Service guests, their appearances depend on their availability.
Where is the camp located?
You’ll find us at YouthLink Calgary, right next to the Calgary Police Service Headquarters at 5151 – 47th Street NE. Enter through Entrance 3 to access parking.
What is the refund policy?

What is the age limit for YouthLink Summer Camps?
YouthLink does not permit children under 6 years old or older than 12 years old to participate in our summer camps. Campers must have turned 6 years of age prior to the start date of their camp week. YouthLink works hard to ensure that all campers get the most out of their summer camp experience and camp activities at YouthLink are designed with the targeted age group in mind.
Can my child attend more than one week of camp?
We strongly discourage signing up for multiple weeks of camp, and we enforce a 2-week maximum per child. Due to the nature of YouthLink camps, some main activities will be repeated from week to week.
What is YouthLink’s camper behavioural policy?
YouthLink works hard to ensure that camps are a fun, inclusive, and safe experience for all campers attending. Part of that commitment requires that we ensure that campers follow the summer camp behavioural policies outlined in our camp waivers that all parents / guardians will be required to sign off on prior to the start of camp. If camp behavioural policies are disregarded YouthLink reserves the right to ask a camper to leave camp and no refund will be issued.
What are the drop-off and pick-up procedures?
During your registration, we will ask you to provide a pick-up password. At every pick-up, our camp leaders will ask you, or the pre-authorized adult who is picking up your camper, to provide the password, to ensure that your camper is going home with trusted adults. Please inform anyone who will be picking up your camper of this password policy to avoid any delay. If an adult cannot provide the password upon pick-up, we cannot permit the camper to go home with them until we have contacted a guardian.
Can I send someone else to pick up my child?
You can add an alternate pick-up for your child by sending us the pre-authorized name, phone number, and relationship of who will be picking up the camper in writing through email or adding someone to the camper’s file in the morning when you are dropping them off. This alternate pick-up must provide the camper’s pick-up password, camp staff will not allow campers to go home with an adult who cannot provide a password upon pick-up.
When are the drop-off and pick-up times?
Drop off is between 8:30AM and 9:00AM and pick up is between 4:00PM and 4:15PM. The YouthLink parking lot (Entrance 3) is open for drop-off from 8:30AM to 9:15PM and 3:30PM to 4:15PM for pick up.
Does YouthLink offer Before and After Care for summer camps?
We will not be offering Before and After Care this year. We have kept our extended our drop off (to 8:30AM) and pick up (to 4:30PM) hours this year for all campers in lieu of offering a formal Before and After Care program.
What if I am early dropping off my camper?
What if I am late picking up my camper?
Please be prompt and contact us should there be any circumstance that causes you to be delayed by calling our front desk at 403-428-4530.
Parents / guardians who have not picked up their children by 4:30PM will be charged a $20.00 late fee for the first 10 minutes and $5.00 for each additional 10 minutes which must be paid before the beginning of the next camp day.
What happens if my camper is absent or arrives late to camp one day?
Please let us know promptly if your camper will be absent or late to camp by calling our Front Desk at 403-428-4530.
Why does YouthLink have a photo waiver to sign?
YouthLink does take photos of campers throughout camp to share with parents and in some cases for marketing and donor reporting purposes. The YouthLink photo waiver is optional for parents / guardians to sign. If you do not wish to sign the photo waiver for your camper, no photos of your camper will be taken during camp.
Do you offer a lunch option?
No, we are not offering a lunch option this year.
Is YouthLink a nut-free facility?
We strive to be a nut-free facility. We ask that all packed lunches and snacks are nut free. However, due to the public nature of the facility some campers and visitors to the museum may show up with a peanut butter and jam sandwich or have eaten peanut butter for breakfast before attending camp. If your camper has a peanut or nut allergy, please let the camp staff know.
What does my camper need to bring to camp?
– Hat
– Sunscreen
– Bug Spray
– Raincoat
– Light jacket or layer
– Runners / sneakers (rain boots on rainy days)
– Contained nut-free packable lunch with at least two snacks (campers get hungry)

– Personal valuables that the camper does not wish to lose

What if my camper has medication they need to carry?

All prescription medications that campers need to carry must be discussed with camp staff at check-in. Prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy packaging, labelled with the patient’s name and the physician’s ordered dos on the bottle (pills in Ziploc bags or other packaging are not permitted).
