2026 CPS Crime Prevention Poster Contest
2026 CPS Crime Prevention Poster Contest
Create, inspire, prevent!
YouthLink is proud to partner with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Crime Prevention Team for the annual Crime Prevention Colouring Contest — a city‑wide celebration of youth creativity, leadership, and safety awareness. Each year, thousands of Calgary students use art to spark conversations about staying safe at home, online, and in their communities.
The contest is open to all Calgary students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, and every entry helps build a safer, more connected city.
A Look Back: The Success of the 2025 Contest
Last year’s Crime Prevention Poster Contest was one of the most inspiring yet. Hundreds of students from across Calgary submitted artwork that was bold, thoughtful, and deeply personal. Their posters explored themes like kindness, awareness, online safety, and community responsibility — and the creativity on display was extraordinary.
YouthLink and CPS celebrated the winners at a special event at the YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre, where students were recognized for both their artistic talent and their ability to communicate meaningful safety messages. Winning posters were displayed publicly, shared online, and used to help teach safety concepts to other youth.
The 2025 contest proved just how powerful youth voices can be. Their artwork didn’t just decorate walls — it started conversations, inspired peers, and helped shape a culture of safety across the city.
What’s New for 2026
This year, the contest returns with a fresh burst of creativity and a new focus on colouring‑based poster design. Students can choose from three safety themes:
- Personal Safety – Staying aware, making safe choices, and navigating daily life confidently
- Community Safety – Helping others, reporting concerns, and building strong neighbourhoods
- Online Safety – Protecting personal information, avoiding scams, and staying safe on social platforms
Whether hand‑drawn, digital, or AI‑assisted, every poster is a chance for youth to express what safety means to them.
Prizes & Recognition
Winners from each grade category will receive:
- A prize pack curated by YouthLink and CPS
- A feature spot on CPS and YouthLink platforms
- Recognition at a special celebration event
- Their artwork displayed as part of CPS crime prevention education
Top entries often become part of real safety programming — meaning your art could help teach thousands of other students.
