A Historic Calgary Week event.

Join us as we examine the early days of our community through the lens of our recently restored 1913-1917 Calgary 01 Mugshot Book. The Calgary of the 1910s was vastly different from our Calgary of today.

Exploring the crimes, the sentences, and the faces of the people who fell foul of the law makes it evident how much our community has evolved in the past century. And yet, there is something very recognizable in the eyes, expressions, and fates of these historic “rogues.” Learning their stories reminds us that even though communities change, some struggles are timeless.  They remind us of the universality of the human experience and the importance of looking back at history as we strive to build inclusive and compassionate communities for the future.

A journey through the underbelly of Calgary’s past at our event Mischief and Mayhem in the Wild West: Tales from the Rogues’ Gallery.

At this 18+ event, guests learned about Calgary’s most wanted. The Muscular Bandit, the infamous Boxcar thieves, our youngest criminal–we went on a journey through their stories and reveal some secrets lurking in Calgary’s dusty streets.
